View Full Version : What do we perceive as normal?

Hi everybody

I am still busy with my formulation on how I visualize the mind, spirit and soul interfacing, but here is something a friend emailed me a few days ago (see attachment) that looks like a good introduction to that topic.

When you see a car it looks like a car. When you see a banana it looks like a banana. When you see a girl she looks like girl, or does she? We are so 'programmed' to see various things in life that certain things does not make sense. Looking at the girl's eyes your brain is trying to make sense and it actually pains a few people to look at it. Somewhere, on a neural level, your brain has programmed pathways on various shapes and forms of things. For this picture your brain has no real answer other than there is something wrong with the picture or your eyes.

This is just on the visual level. We have blockages on the audio and other sensory levels as well as our perception of the abstract. Most people have problems understanding Einstein's E=mc˛ but once you understand it, and other related relativistic stuff, you move on to the next level where you realise space is actually something and it is actually liquid. Space is compressable. Huh, some of you say, but then this is actually how everything (well our existance plane) was created by God in 6 days (Doug, I can almost sense you frowning upon this one, since this has been bugging you for a while...or am I wrong?). The problem with life is that the more you become smarter, by studying and getting fancy degrees, or growing older and wiser, the more we get stuck on a human intellectual level(the more you thing red the less you see blue). Trying to explain fluid space and creation in 6 days to somebody is like showing a 4 eyed picture to somebody and saying "isn't she pretty ?".

So I think when an angel tells us that certain things are beyond our perceptions (intellectually and soul) they have a point. We are stuck in an intellectual groove that we must so desperately try to get out of. Our minds are rule based. From driving in the correct lane to eating the correct coloured foods (heard there is a new blue coloured tomato source,... even the sentence sounds wrong).

Bottom line... We should stop thinking like humans and start perceiving and feeling with our souls.

Most people feel with their 5 senses and feed their soul garbage information. Our human perceptions are animal based, pleasure seeking and danger avoidance. We work because we have a fear of dying of hunger. Our pleasures include sitting in the 'safety' of home 'enjoying' food, shelter, watch other people on TV getting hurt (but not you). etc... Have you ever noticed the majority of people are only interested in the negative when it comes to movies. Humans like to see suffering, pain, humilation, hate, tension, fear, lust other negative aspects. It may come in the form of sport, war, romance, murder, suspense, comedy and 'love'. But, you say might say:" I like a nice romance movie where the nice young man wins the young girl's heart". Take the villain out, the deceit, the confrontation, the lies, the part where the nice young man had to shoot the bad guy. Go directly from opening credits where the nice young man meets the nice young girl, they fall in love and they lived happily ever after. Boring !! This is not how humans perceive life. We expect the pain, the problems of getting through life. There is nothing like a free lunch. We are conditioned that nobody will catch us in times of hardship. If you walk through the desert, hungry and sun burnt and you come upon a small oasis with umbrellas, running water and food you will, apart from stuffing yourself, start to wonder if someone is not out to catch you. Sometimes when I look at people I think to myself: "Hey, Vincent (my dog, very cute) would have done the same thing".

Even with a portion of Divine Love the flesh is still prescribing to the mind and soul how things should be. How can we bear fruit of God if we cannot overcome the weaknesses of the flesh?

At which point do I stop seeing the 2 (4 eyes) of a person and wholly perceive the soul behind it?

You you all

How many of you noticed instead of "Love to you all" I wrote "You you all" at the end? I might say this was a test of your perceptions or to see if you were awake but rather I would attribute it to temporary stupidity and a feeble attempt to imitate my 2 year old son, who is now learning to talk, aggravated by a windowless office, stuffy airconditioning and yearning to run away from my temporary job of creating weapons of mass destruction.

Well, may my love embrace you like a warm morning sun and may Divine Love be bestowd apon you like the Niagra falls. (or You you all if you prefer that).

Bert

Maybe I lack double the brain size? I feel rather brain dead now. Could use the 4 eyes. Spent the weekend finishing up a new computer design. You can now actually reprogram the CPU to become another CPU, faster and better. The hardware can evolve (but it has limits). I have actually modelled it on something we are familiar with, any guesses?

Movies. The kind of movies, you are referring to, only recently became legal (barely just) in South Africa. Apparently, also the only type of movies they use the multiple angle feature in DVDs (see DVD F.A.Q. on internet) ;- )

Dear Victor,

It seems your head (and heart) are full of interesting ideas. I pray the angels guide you to discover new theories and inventions that will help evolve the human race. You are quite right that we need to start sensing more with our soul and less with our body/mind. Although the pursuit of our true self may take a lifetime of prayer and effort, it is well worth it.

No doubt, every tie we break with our animal nature is a tie we make to a spiritual reality that promises to be limitless. How joyfully exciting!

Much love to you, dear brother,

Amy
